EVERYTHING… HALLELUJAH. The gratitude trend kids will love to be a part of.

The gratitude trend kids will love to be a part of

You might’ve seen the song Justin Bieber performed recently at Coachella? “Everything… HALLELUJAH”. Justin Bieber shares small, everyday things he’s grateful for. Then Reese Witherspoon jumped on the trend, lightening the vibe with a bit of comedy in her Hallelujah list.

So, we came up with our own list too!

  • Sunshine on your face after a long day… HALLELUJAH
  • Kids laughing (like, really laughing)… HALLELUJAH
  • That first sip of coffee before anyone needs you… HALLELUJAH
  • When everyone actually eats dinner without complaining… HALLELUJAH
  • Kids opening up and sharing their feelings… HALLELUJAH
  • Fresh sheets on the bed… HALLELUJAH
  • Finding the missing shoe 2 minutes before leaving… HALLELUJAH
  • The dog being excited like you’re the best human ever… HALLELUJAH
  • A deep breath that resets everything… HALLELUJAH
  • When siblings get along (even for 3 minutes)… HALLELUJAH
  • WiFi working when you really need it… HALLELUJAH
  • Spell check saving you from embarrassment… HALLELUJAH
  • That moment you realise… “we’re actually doing okay”… HALLELUJAH
  • Small mindset shifts that change the whole day… HALLELUJAH

Here’s how you can bring this fun trend home and lighten the mood with some fun and gratitude.  Because let’s be honest… After school can be full on. Kids can come home and let go. So, let’s try turn the moods around with some gratitude fun

Try it out, just say:

“Hey tell me one good thing from today.”

Then whatever they say, you say:

“HALLELUJAH!”

Feel free to have a laugh, if they crack a smile about it too!

Here’s how gratitude helps

You’re basically helping your kids:

  • notice the good stuff
  • shift out of a grump
  • talk (without it turning into an interrogation)

And you’re doing it in about… 10 seconds. A quick reset.

Easy ways to sneak it into your day

Car ride home
Best time. They’re captive. Use it.

Walking in the door
Before devices take over the world.

Dinner table
Make it a round – funny answers fully allowed.

Bedtime
One good thing before lights out. Keep it chill.

Gratitude rock (this one’s gold)
Give them a rock. They hold it, say one thing.
Don’t question it, kids love weird stuff like this.

“Yeah but my kids won’t do it…”

Some days? They won’t.

You’ll get:

  • “Nothing.”
  • “Dunno.”
  • A dramatic sigh

Carry on anyway.

No pressure. No forcing it.

Just keep throwing it out there. It lands more than you think.

Why we bang on about gratitude

We made a bit of a thing about gratitude in April, but honestly, this is one of those tools you want hanging around all year.

Because it helps kids:

  • bounce back quicker
  • notice good stuff (even on average days)
  • feel a bit more steady

And it helps you too, if we’re being real.

Give it a go tonight

At bedtime, just ask:

“Hey, what’s one good thing from today?”

Whatever they say, even if it’s “lunch” or “nothing happened” just say:

HALLELUJAH. Then throw in a smile!
